Heaven gained a beautiful angel as Shannon Stanley passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025, with loved ones by her side.
Shannon was born on April 6, 1933, in Hockinson, Washington, to Alina and August Lehto, and spent three years with her grandmother, Emma Krieko, during the war years while she attended school. Then she moved to Longview, WA with her mom, Alina and her step-dad, Everett Madison. A proud graduate of R.A. Long High School in Longview, WA, Class of 1951. Shannon dedicated her life to caring for others through her work in banking, nursing homes, and home health care.
Shannon married the love of her life, Frank Stanley, and they shared 71 wonderful years together. They made thier home in Woodland, WA, where they raised beef cattle and crops. Together, they were dedicated Woodland Beaver Boosters and rarely missed a game, no matter where it was held.
She is survived by her husband, their beloved daughter, April, and son-in-law Rick of Woodland; three grandchildren: Amber Logan (Mark) of Houston, Staci Bourke (Jade) of Woodland, and Stanley Chunn (Angela) of Woodland; and six cherished great-grandchildren: Gracie & Gavin Shoemaker, Andrew & Katrina Logan, and Beau & Colton Chunn. Her true pride and joy were her grand and great-grandchildren.
In 1959, Shannon became a devoted member of Highland Lutheran Church, where her faith and community involvement remained a constant throughout her life. She was also an active member of AARP and the Woodland Historical Society. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and was known for her grit and determination (Sisu).
Shannon will be remembered for her deep compassion, dedicated faith, strong heart, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on through her family and all who knew her.
A private burial will be held for the family. All are invited to the memorial service, which will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Lutheran Church, 38809 NE 41st Ave, La Center, WA 98629. A fellowship and meal will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Highland Lutheran Church in Shannon’s memory.
