Ronald Hal Lange was born in Yakima, Washington December 28, 1945 to Hal and Neysa (Ashman) Lange, the oldest of five children. He was a 1964 graduate of West Valley High School and a graduate of Yakima Valley Community College, with an engineering tech degree. He spent the majority of his career with the U.S. Forest Service primarily in SE Alaska. He began with surveying during the summers while in college in Packwood, Wash. He spent a few years in Petersburg, followed by over 20 years in Juneau, Alaska. Before retirement he worked in McCall and Boise, Idaho. He supervised the construction of roads and buildings, ending as a contracts engineer.
While in Alaska he developed his love of flying, owning a Cessna 172 for many years. He made life-long flying friends. Ron was a huge Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan, always believing this was their year.
In retirement he traveled the country in his 5th wheel, visiting all but 4 state capitals, often spending winters in Arizona. He enjoyed visiting air museums and air shows all over the country. Ron relocated to Battle Ground, Wash. in 2022.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and brother Dennis. He is survived by his brother Richard Lange and sister Marilyn Poukkula both of Yakima and sister Marlene (John) Lee of Portland. He was a beloved uncle to Denise (Cory) Bell, Reney Lange, Melinda (Robert) Wente, Marilee Lange, Daniel Ness, Jeff (Nicole) Hagen, and Jennifer (Kelly) Miller, their children (Cheyenne Morrison, Derek Bell, Elizabeth Wente, Ryan Wente, Hayden Lange, Connor Lange, and Elise Miller) and grandchildren (Jace and Owen Morrison).
At his request, no memorial service is planned.
