Peter was born in San Diego, California on November 12, 1955 to his loving parents, Peter and Dena Gregg. He had 6 siblings: Rick Gregg, Mark Notbohm, Annie Gregg (Allison), Mary Gregg (Burton), William Gregg, Amy Gregg (Carl).

Peter's early childhood in Mission Bay was adventuresome. Trips to the Salton Sea and Mission Bay beach, regular excursions to the San Diego Zoo with his grandfather, along with dancing lessons kept him out of mischief. He loved classical music, and his father loved jazz, so together they shared their love of music, both recorded and live.

At 17, Peter joined the United States Coast Guard to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, and Honolulu, Hawaii. Peter was honourably discharged in 1979 and moved to Vancouver, Washington.Peter worked in car sales for 50 years in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington.

He received many accolades and awards in the business over the years, but for him, his most important achievement was building lasting relationships with his coworkers and customers - over 6,000 of whom said "I'll take it" to Peter. He spoke intelligently, listened carefully and acted honestly.

Peter met and married his wife, Phyllis Lee Koehn, on June 26, 1999. They purchased a home and settled in Felida, Washington and built a wonderful life together with Phyllis' son, Jason Dement.

After Peter retired from sales, he stepped into the role of "captain of the house" - once a Coast Guard member, always a Coast Guard member. Looking after the house, grocery shopping, and supporting his wife while still working became his new mission.Everyone who knew Peter said the same thing when describing him: He was kind and affectionate to everyone in is his life. He loved talking to people. If anyone was looking for him in a crowded room all they had to do was follow the laughter. He had a deep love for his family, and his family loved him back just as deeply.

Peter's survivors include: his devoted wife and stepson, Phyllis and Jason (Dement); his siblings, Matthew, Mark, Annie, Mary, William, Amy.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents and brother, Rick.At the age of 70, Peter passed peacefully at home with his wife holding his hand and the chaplain by his side on January 29, 2026, in his hometown of Felida, Washington. His life will be celebrated by his immediate family and close friends this Summer, his favorite time of year.
