Peggy was born on September 5, 1942 in Seattle, Washington to Clarence Anderson and Marguerite (Lumijarvi) Anderson. She grew up in Portland, helping with the patients at mother's rest home. She had an older sister Shiela, a younger sister Judy, and a younger brother Robert. Her dad Clarence died in 1956.
In 1959, Marguerite married Waino Rasanen and Peggy gained a wonderful dad and another sister: Waino's daughter Helen.
Also, in 1959, at 16, Peggy married Brian Olson from Belden, ND. In 1960 their first son, Jeff, was born. In 1961, Eddy was born and in 1964 they had Julia.
Brian and Peggy lived in Portland when the kids were small, in the country outside Vancouver. When they were teenagers, and later as empty-nesters, in North Dakota, New Hampshire, Florida, and back to Vancouver where they built a log home, then to Pasco, Washington where they built their dream home. Which Eddy referred to as the "McMansion"!
They enjoyed being part of an Apostolic Lutheran Church family wherever they lived. Peggy lived a very happy and active life with her husband Brian. It included traveling and she scrapbooked many of their travels. After 54 years of marriage, Brian passed away in 2013.
Then Peggy moved back to the Vancouver area living in various retirement homes until 6 years ago when she moved to Victoria's Adult Family Home in the Orchards area of Vancouver, where she had kind and compassionate care. Peggy passed away there on August 20, 2026. She was 83 years old.
She had a deep love for her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and sisters, and for her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, step-dad,, sister Shiela, brother Robert, husband Brian, son Jeff, and daughter Julia.
She will be missed by her sisters Judy Questad - Ridgefield, and Helen Rasanen (Lou) - Vancouver, her son Eddy (Carol), granddaughter Kyli (Dan) of Southern Oregon, daughter-in-laws Debbie Olson (Kennewick, Washington) and Christie Farnan (St. Joseph, Missouri). Grandchildren: Christina Olsen, Mindy Olson (Calvin), Robert Olson - Kennewick, Cassandra Green (Donald) Hutchinson, Kansas, Finnegan Olson-Farnan - St. Joseph, Missouri. Great-grandchildren: Zach Sylvester - Phoenix, AZ, Anthony Sylvester in the Navy in Japan, Isaac Sylvester (Zoey) and great-great-grandson Ezra - Garden City, Idaho, Heidi Sylvester - Napa, Idaho, Bethany Sylvester - Garden City, Idaho, Bradley Lemmon (Rebecca) - Richland, Washington, Austin and Skylar Lemmon, Adam Albataineh, Emmalee and Nathan Baker - Kennewick, Washington, Skylar Olson - Kennewick, Washington, Kayden and Sophie Green - Hutchinson, Kansas.
And many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Victoria's Adult Family Home for their exceptional care and the nurses from Peace Health Hospice for their attention to every detail.
Peggy's service will begin at 1 PM, Friday, August28, 2026 at the Vancouver Apostolic Lutheran Church with refreshments after.
She will be laid to rest next to Brian at Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick, Washington on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 1 PM.
