Listen to Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mitchell Lane Fox on November 8th, 2025 in Vancouver, WA. Mitch was born in Mill Valley, CA to Harley and Marion Fox and was one of four brothers.

As a young adult, Mitch proudly served in the Washington National Guard Reserve for 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1971. During and after this time, he was a plant worker for Coca-Cola and then became a truck driver delivering beer. He remained a truck driver until his retirement in 2005.

In July 1971, Mitch met Helen Herrera for the first time at either a bar or nightclub (a great debate between them until his passing). That night, after returning home, he informed his mother that he had just met the woman he was going to marry. After only 3 months of dating, they married on October 30th, 1971, and remained married for 54 years. He went into the marriage with a daughter, Carey, and later he and Helen had another daughter, Tyla Marie.

Mitch and Helen lived in the same Amboy, WA home for over 40 years before selling and downsizing to a home in Battleground, WA. They opened their home to family and filled it with love, faith, and devotion.

Mitch was a man full of faith and a devotion to God. He and his wife were members of Reign Church (formally Faith Center) since their opening. They devoted their time to the community and helping those in need. Mitch would often dress up as Santa during the holiday season for the children of the church. With his great white beard, he played the part perfectly.

He especially loved drawing and had mastered the craft in childhood after breaking his leg and being bound to his home. Later in life, he enjoyed playing dice with his wife and family. If you ever visited his home, he wouldn’t let you leave until playing at least one game. He passed his love of the game down to his great nieces and nephews. He also loved going to the beach, specifically Lincoln City, to collect agates.

Mitch was a stubborn old man who loved to joke around with his family and make people laugh. He also loved singing and dancing with his nieces and nephews.

He loved with his whole heart.

Mitch was preceded in death by his daughter Tyla Marie, his parents, and his three brothers.

He is survived by his beloved wife Helen, daughter Carey, sister-in-laws Eleanor and Petra, nieces Terry, Tina and Nicole, nephews Larry and Pedro, and many other beloved family members and friends.

A viewing will be held from 12 - 5pm on Friday November 14th at Layne’s Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Friday December 12th at 6pm at Reign Church, with Glen and Joel Johnson and Gary Gelnette speaking.
