On July 19, 2025 our family unexpectedly said goodbye to our beloved patriarch Lynn Van Barrett Jr, who passed away peacefully at home while watching the Mariners game with his dog…a quiet and serene ending for a strong and loving man.
Born March 13, 1941 in Vancouver, Washington to parents Aileen and Lynn Barrett Sr, he was a life-long resident of Clark County. Lynn graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1959, where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and track and field.
Meeting a shy girl from England at a friend’s house was like being hit by a bolt of lightning, and Lynn married the love of his life, Maureen Teedon, in January of 1962. They settled in Vancouver to raise their children Mark, Kelly, and Stephen in a home that was filled with love and laughter. Money may have been tight in those early years, but their home never lacked for the important things in life…Lynn worked hard to provide for his family and created so many joyful memories, surrounded by good food, friends, and fun.
After retiring from his career as special events manager for Corwin Beverage, Lynn and Maureen set out on the road in their RV for many wonderful adventures with friends and family. With his sharp wit and charismatic personality, Lynn was often telling a fantastic story around the campfire, winning a heated game of cards or cribbage, or laughing at some slightly rude but wickedly funny joke he had just told.
Those who knew and loved Lynn as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin or friend could always count on his sage advice, his strong morals, and his big heart for compassion, kindness, and love. The success of a person is a life well-lived, filled with love and family, and by that standard, Lynn was the richest man in the world.
We will forever miss his laugh, his smile, and his passion for life but he will live on through the strong ethics and character he instilled in his family. Lynn leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Maureen; his sons Mark and Stephen; his daughter Kelly; his daughter-in-law Carla; his son-in-law Darrell; his nine grandchildren Josh, Jonathan, Jeremy, Jordan, Brooke, Ethan, Paige, Grace, and Jesse; great-grandchild Nathan; and countless friends.
