Jeffery George Hill

April 27, 1961 — July 18, 2025

La Center

Jeffery George Hill was born April 27, 1961, to George and Marliss Hill in Grangeville, Idaho. Jeff passed at his home in La Center, Washington, on July 18, 2025. The Hill family moved from Idaho to Washington state in the early 1970s, eventually landing in Battle Ground, where Jeff attended school until his senior year, when he realized school was not for him and he found small side jobs instead. He began his interest in working on things and learning different trades at 18 when he started working at a meatpacking plant in 1979. From then on, Jeff worked at a few small companies before beginning his journey as a machinist at Columbia Machine in 1986. While working at Columbia Machine, he met Cary Clemons, and in 1988 the two welcomed a daughter, Erica.

Although Jeff and Cary never remained in a relationship, he did his very best to be the best dad he could be. Little did he know she would grow up to be just as sassy and stubborn as he was, leading to lots and lots of gray hair. Jeff went on to work at NW Packing, Madill Corporation and eventually found the place where he ended his working career at Old Castle Building. Jeff obtained many skills throughout his career as a machinist and was an incredibly talented person, yet ended his career in November 2024.

Jeff bought property in 2000 and made his paradise on 5 acres in La Center, where he spent his final days feeding the deer and enjoying the peace and quiet. Jeff was an incredibly family-oriented person, always trying to be present at all the family functions and events. In 2011 he was blessed with his granddaughter, Hannah Becker, and he was over the moon to be a grandpa. In 2014 he was blessed with his grandson, Henry Becker. He finally got his boy and was beyond excited to teach him all the things he never got to teach his daughter. He loved everything about being a grandfather and created several lasting memories with his grandchildren that they will cherish as they travel this journey of grief.

From November 2024 until his death, he was able to enjoy a short stint of retirement, during which he paid off his home and enjoyed being a grandpa, learning how to use technology more efficiently and helping his daughter with her home projects. He was the best dad a girl could ask for and the coolest grandpa around, and although his journey on earth has ended, he is seen in each and every one of his relatives. We will all keep his traditions of throwing out a random firecracker at the most random time, catching frogs, pinecone fights and all of his dorky jokes alive for years to come. Jeff is survived by his mother, Marliss Hill; his daughter, Erica Becker; his brothers, Lonnie Hill and wife, Linda, and Wes Hill and wife, Kathy; his sister, Lorilea Casey; his grandchildren, Hannah and Henry Becker; his niece, Mandy Hill Cardinale, and husband, Josh; nephews, Scott Hill and wife, Tristyan, Zach and Trevor Casey; along with great-nephew, Scott Jr., and great-nieces, Laylah and Emmiline. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, 1603 N. Parkway Ave., Battle Ground, WA 98604, with a reception to follow.
