Battle Ground

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Heidi Leitgeb, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Heidi graced this Earth for 75 years, spreading warmth and happiness wherever she went. Heidi was born on April 20th, 1949, in Texas and moved to Washington in 1963. Heidi passed peacefully on April 24th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, and leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and indelible memories.

Heidi met and married the love of her life while living in Olympia, Washington. Heidi and Martin Leitgeb ultimately settled in the Southwest Washington area where they created a strong foundation for themselves and their three children; Colby, Adam, and Hilary. Married to her soulmate, Marty, for an inspiring 55 years, their love story was a testament to enduring commitment and unwavering support. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys. They created a home for not only their family but friends as well, it was filled with love, lots of laugher, and a sense of belonging.

A devoted educator for decades, she illuminated countless lives with her passion for teaching. Her dedication to nurturing young minds left an enduring mark on her students and colleagues alike. Beyond the classroom, she found her greatest joy in the company of cherished friends and beloved family. Her children and grandchildren were the stars in her sky, each one a testament to her boundless love and devotion.

Her role as a mother was her greatest joy and her most sacred duty. With unwavering love and infinite patience. she nurtured her children, guiding them with wisdom, compassion, and encouragement as they navigated the complexities of life. Heidi was a "mom" to many through her children's friendships and the many kids and teens that found her cozy home to be a safe sanctuary filled with warmth and laughter.

Becoming a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she embraced this role with the same boundless love and enthusiasm that defined her. She delighted in the laughter and innocence of her grandchildren, showering them with affection and wisdom, creating precious memories that will be cherished for generations to come. Grandma Heidi will be sorely missed by Charlotte, Augustus, Cordelia, and Mercer.

Throughout her life, she excelled in every role she filled, leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Her love knew no bounds, her kindness knew no limits, and her spirit knew no end. Though she may have left us too soon, the impact of her spirit is widespread.

As we gather to celebrate Heidi's remarkable life, let us honor her memory by embracing the values she held dear: love, kindness, and compassion. May she rest peacefully knowing that she is deeply loved and profoundly missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Heidi's life will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Brush Prairie, Washington on June 15th at 11:00am with a reception to follow. Please come share in remembrance of Heidi's deep impact on so many lives.
