Gordon Allen Scraggin

Gordon Allen Scraggin of Vancouver, Washington, died peacefully at home on July 24, 2026, at the age of 98. He was born May 16, 1928, in Tacoma, Washington, to Pauline and Carl Scraggin. Gordon graduated from Stadium High School in 1946 and served one year in the Marine Corps. In 1951, he graduated from the University of Puget Sound and went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington in 1954.

After law school, Gordon clerked for the Honorable Judge George Boldt before building a long law practice in Tacoma. He was a partner at Mann & King, and later with Ken Luce and Associates in Fife. He served as city attorney for Sumner and Fife, each for thirty years, and for the city of Roy for twenty-three years. He was known for his dedication to the law and his client-first approach.

Gordon met Nancy Miller of Puyallup through mutual friends, and they married at All Saints Church in 1957. They welcomed a daughter, Anne, in 1965.

In 2004, Nancy and Gordon moved from Edgewood, Washington, to Port Townsend, Washington, seeking a quieter life near the water. Gordon enjoyed fishing, crabbing, reading, tying flies, tending his bonsai, and volunteering at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. At 75, he restored his childhood violin and began playing the fiddle with a local group. Affectionately known as “Pop,” he treasured time with his three granddaughters.

Following Gordon’s heart attack in 2023, he and Nancy moved to an assisted living community in Vancouver, Washington, closer to family.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy; daughter Anne Robinson (Nick); granddaughters Jillian Robinson (Ron), Abigail Robinson (Tyler), and Megan Robinson DeRego (John); and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 20, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vancouver, Washington. The rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish center. Interment will take place at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, Washington.

Gordon will be remembered for his quiet kindness, steadfast faith, gentle humor, and deep devotion to his family.

In place of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Vancouver Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
