Gary Raymond Ek passed away to his heavenly home on April 10, 2026 at the age of 78, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on January 23, 1948 in Vancouver, WA and lived in Vancouver his entire life. He was in the Army Reserves for 6 years and worked as a carpenter and general contractor until retirement.

Gary was the fifth of ten children born to Leonard and Helen Ek. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene, one daughter and 6 sons. Randy (Vicki), Marty (Tammi), Brian (Chera), Diane (Neil) Bastion, Curtis (Tylene), Lance, and Terry (Anita), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of Christian friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Helen, brothers Jimmy, Roger, and Doug, and three great grandchildren.

Gary enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and Christian companions. He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and was a steadfast example to all who knew him.
