Ernest R. “Ernie Foster Jr.
Born September 29, 1943 in Vancouver, WA to parents Mary and Ernest Sr.
Ernest graduated from Ridgefield High in 1962 where he had made his mark in track, FFA + Farm Mechanics, which earned him a trip to the FFA convention in Colorado. After high school, he worked for the corp of engineers, got married, became a father, started working at a PWTC, then baby #2 came along. He stayed at PWTC until the company closed. He started working at C-Tran and stayed there until retirement. During those years he became a “single” dad, met and married Sue, and tried to blend two families.
Memorial Day 1982 was the disaster that set his life in a different direction. We had a motorcycle to van collision on the I-5 bridge. Thus began 40+ years of doctors, surgeries, and recovery... Just before he retired from C-Tran, the shaking signs of Parkinson's Disease displayed itself. He has delt with that condition for 20 years. Through it all he has enjoyed his cars and motorcycles and working on many.
Ernie’s life was filled with the thrill of fast and loud cards and faster, louder motorcycles. He has lost count of the number of parades he attended... that was his other life.
One of the highlights for Ernie was the cruise to Alaska’s inside passage in 2009. He enjoyed every moment, every meal, and every side trip. He wanted to do that again.
Ernie has come to the end of his journey now and I hope he kn9ows that he is loved by God, family and friends. What more could a man accomplish on his journey through life?
Ernie is preceded in death by his mom and dad.
He is survived by his wife Sue, sister Darlene; son Bradley (Patty); son Tyler (Tammy); grandchildren; Cameron, Amber, Amanda, and Ion. Four great-grandchildren, three stepdaughters; Linda (Tom), Sandra (Bruce), and Rebecca. Step-grandchildren; Jennifea, Allie, Nick, Cody, and Jessika.
Rest in peace, dear Ernie.
