Eddie was 73 years old at her time of passing.
She grew up in the country, living in Battle Ground in her youth. She moved to Vancouver and lived there for many years always with her many dogs she loved so much.
She passed away October 11th, 2025 at PeaceHealth Southwest Hospital, with her loving husband and family by her side.
Eddie graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1970. She had a 4.0 GPA and was on the Honor Roll all 4 years. Doing this after half her senior year to help take care of her sick mom.
After graduation she went to work for the Corp. of Engineers. This is when she learned to drive through Portland traffic to and from work. She always said she learned real quick. Then she went to work for BPA and retired from there a couple times. She was a smart woman.
She worked her way up the ladder from the secretary pool to a budget analyst. After retirement they contacted her and she went back as a civilian contractor. She was given many awards for the excellent job she always did.
She was a hard worker and made many friends along the way.
She had a great sense of humor. She would joke that she could balance millions of dollars, but not her own checkbook.
She loved to travel, visiting Germany, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Florida, and many states across the United States. She loved to go to Disneyland and went to one in California and Florida. She loved to camp and the beach. Many a great memories with those trips.
She is preceded in death by her parents Chester and Arnettia (Nettie) Newton, her daughter Dawn, granddaughters Amelia and Myracle, brothers Clifford and Clayton Newton, and nephew Dustin Newton (Ferd).
She is survived by her husband of many years, Robert Mitzel. Six brothers Dennis (Sharon) of Texas, Chester of Brush Prairie, Carl (Laura) of Vancouver, Calvin (Leslie) of Amboy, Chadm (Jo) of Chelatchie Prairie. One sister, Mackie (Nelson) of Amboy. A special cousin, Rhonda, who helped her so much along the way.
She was a special aunt and second mom to many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
Service is October 24, 2025. Layne's Funeral Services in Battle Ground is in charge of the viewing and service. Viewing starts at 11 AM. Service starts at 1 PM.
After the service Robert would like to invite family and friends to Rocky's Pizza in Battle Ground.
