Douglas Paris passed away after a short battle with cancer on October 13, 2025 at the age of 73.
He was born on June 27, 1952 in Longview, WA. Doug was a husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, also a bonus dad and uncle to many young cousins and friends. He loved everyone, especially kids. He rarely told anyone no. And wanted to know everyone in the room. If you met him, you were forever his friend.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He cherished the times he spent with his family and friends hunting and his annual opening day fishing camp. Stories from those times never to leave the camp. He especially loved time spent at Cougar and Eagle Cliff. He was known as "Senior Camp Director".
He loved his guitar and singing. He had a band for 30 years. The band members changed over the years but, he was a constant. "The Edward Street Band" played at many local bars, reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, and city celebrations.
Doug also built racing lawn mowers. Although, he never raced one himself. He built and helped build them for his son, Randy, daughter, Lindsey, grandson, Karson, and many other racers. He was known as "The Crew Chief" or "Pit Boss".
Doug supported his family over the years by becoming a machinist after returning from military service. (He was one of the last few people drafted into the Army from Clark County).
He worked at a machine shop in Portland and helped create a tunnel boring machine that drilled under the English Channel. He also did field service work on many bridges in Washington and Oregon. Also worked for Schurman Machine in Woodland, creating saw mill machinery. And a shop that repaired pumps for paper mills. The last 20 years he was self employed, and continued his love for machining.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, and three children along with their spouses; Randy Paris (Nikki), Melissa (Luke Taylor), and Lindsey (Kirby De La Grange). He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, and 2 (almost 3) great-grandchildren. Sister, Patti Paris, and many nieces and nephews.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents Ron and June Paris, and his brother, Dennis Paris.
