David Ray Stackhouse, age 76, passed away October 2nd, 2025 of natural causes.

David was born in Roseburg, Oregon May 17th 1949 to Charles W. Stackhouse and Pansy Stackhouse.

Dave served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1968 to 1970. He served in Vietnam for 11 months as a voice radio dispatcher. After returning stateside, he worked at various jobs before going to work for Vancouver Sanitary Service/Waste Connections where he retired after 35 years as a truck driver.

He welcomed his first daughter, Chantell, in 1982 on his 33rd birthday. Together they would celebrate many birthdays together, always with the Stackhouse humor.

He later married his current wife Sandy in 1985. Together they had 9 children, to include 3 adopted children. As foster parents, they took in over the years 11 medically fragile babies. Their last foster child, Brianne, was adopted in 1997 and she is thriving to this day. Dave loved his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He was an extraordinary father figure to any and all children that came through his front door. He had a unique ability to make us all feel loved and wanted. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy; and his remaining children are, Joe (Lori), Shannon, Chantell (Danny), Shane (Vanessa), Heather, Heidi (Ryan) and Brianne. David also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings; James, George, Douglas and Brenda.

There will be a Celebration of Life November 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at Laynes funeral home in Battle Ground Washington. We invite all who knew Dave to come and join us in honoring his life.
