Calvin Ravencraft, 69, of Battle Ground, Washington, passed away on September 25, 2025.
Born on May 23, 1956, in Santa Monica, California, Calvin was one of seven children and the second youngest. With four brothers and two sisters, Calvin’s childhood was anything but quiet. The chaos, the noise and the laughter of a big family shaped his bold spirit and gave him endless stories and memories he carried all his life. His mother was the heart of his world, and he carried her love and influence with him throughout his life. From an early age, Calvin had a free spirit, drawn to adventure, laughter, and the beauty of the ocean. Venice Beach and Huntington Beach were his sanctuaries, where the rhythm of the waves, the warmth of the sand, and the glow of the sun spoke to his soul.
In time, Calvin became a father of three, the best thing that ever happened to him. He strived every day to be the best dad he could be and being a father was the role he cherished above all else.
As he continued his work as a semi-truck driver, Calvin moved from California to Vancouver, Washington, to begin a new adventure near his beloved mother, Norma Jean. Her presence there was a guiding force in his decision, and though she has since passed on, the love he shared with her remained one of the strongest bonds of his life. While he was a hard worker and proud of his years on the road, his greatest calling came when he chose to dedicate himself as a full-time caregiver for his daughter with disabilities. It was a role he embraced with love, patience and devotion, and one that defined his life’s deepest purpose.
His life reflected the values of family, love and hard work. To him, family was not just important, it was everything. He lived his life for his children, pouring his heart into being the best father he could be and later found immeasurable joy in being a grandfather. He lived his life with unwavering devotion. Showing unconditional love, selflessness and strength in every moment. He was a protector, a teacher, a best friend and a steady source of comfort. His love was profound and will remain a guiding light to his children and grandchildren, who will forever carry it with them.
He was also the kind of man who found joy in helping others, offering his time, heart and hands whenever someone was in need. His kindness and generosity touched many lives.
Calvin will be remembered not only for his devotion and the way he gave so freely of himself, but also for his larger-than-life personality. He was outspoken, often with no filter and he had a way of saying things exactly as they were. That honesty, sometimes blunt and sometimes hilarious, was just part of who he was. He loved telling stories from his younger years and if you knew Calvin, you knew you were probably going to hear the same story more than once, whether you wanted to or not. But that was his charm. His stories, told with so much animation and passion, always left people shaking their heads, laughing and remembering him with a grin.
He is survived by his former wife, Brenda Ravencraft; his children, Joshua Ravencraft, Jennifer Ravencraft and Julia Dillard and his two beloved grandchildren, Destiny Dillard and William Ravencraft. For them, his greatest legacy was the love he poured into being their dad, and to his grandchildren, he was “Happa” and “Grandpa” a role he cherished most of all. His spirit will remain a constant presence in their lives, felt in every laugh, hug, and cherished memory.
His spirit, now free, journeys to the endless horizon where the waves meet the sky and his soul finds eternal peace that has no end.
Though God has called him home, we will always remember the beauty of his bold spirit, his endless stories, and the love he so freely gave. He will be deeply missed.
