Brenda Lee Hlivyak

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brenda Lee Hlivyak, in the early morning hours of June 25, 2026. She was 65 years old.

Predeceased by her parents Norman Steffen and Zona Steffen (nee Ledbetter), as well as her grandma Lee.

Brenda is survived by and will be missed by her loving husband Jeffrey Hlivyak, daughter Shelby, her brother David (Carie), as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews and cousins who will miss he dearly.

Brenda was born on June 7,1961, and raised in Whittier, CA. After completing the 11th grade, she spent much of her career doing medical billing and clerical work for medical and veterinary practices. Brenda found joy visiting the beach with her husband, Jeff, and watching the sunset. She had a quick, witty sense of humor and loved to laugh. She found a fascination for law and true crime from watching her Mother practice Law and from reading her Mother’s law briefs and books.

Brenda also loved taking care of her daughter Shelby. They had a one of a kind bond and loved to visit travel stations on road trips. Buccee’s was on her bucket list.

Per Brenda’s wishes, there will be no service or burial. Private interment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Brenda would be most touched by a memorial donation to NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness.
