Anita Maye Rothman passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington. She was born on December 18, 1931, in McDonald, Pennsylvania, and her journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and a profound impact on those around her.

Anita's family history is rich with the legacy of hard work and commitment to service. Moving as a child to Battle Ground in the Dollar's Corner area, she grew up in a household that embodied strong values, as her parents operated the Lobry General Store. This sense of community laid the groundwork for a life devoted to serving others.

For much of her early career, Anita served as a government employee, making significant contributions primarily with the US Forest Service before retiring in 1987. Her passion for education led her to work for ten years as a paraeducator with the Vancouver School District, where she dedicated herself to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning. It was evident to all who knew her how deeply she cared for the children she worked with, weaving a tapestry of affection and support throughout her professional endeavors.

Anita's commitment to family was equally profound. She is survived by her brother Robert Lobry, sisters Grace Luther and Bonnie Reisenauer, and her three daughters, Linda Archer (Stephen), Marina Knuttila (Jack Burns), and Sandra Rothman. She cherished her role as a matriarch, leaving behind a legacy in the form of numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit.

Anita was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Rothman, her son David Knuttila, as well as her parents, Frank and Violet Lobry. She also mourned the loss of her brothers Frankie and Roger Lobry, alongside her sisters Sandra and Marlene Erickson.

Anita Maye Rothman will be lovingly remembered for her unyielding kindness, her infectious enthusiasm for life, and her dedication to the people she loved. She was devoted to helping others, making things possible for her family members when they felt they couldn't accomplish things, (buying a home, starting a business). She was extremely generous to her loved ones. She was very strong-willed. Her influence will continue to resonate through her family and the many lives she touched during her remarkable journey. While she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
